SANA 2019: the future of the sector is decided in Bologna
SANA - International exhibition of organic and natural products, for 31 years the reference event in Italy for the sector, which exhibits exclusively certified organic products, comes back to Bologna from 6 to 9 September 2019.
The salon is part of the Italian organic scene you like. Like abroad - Italy is the leading exporter in the European Union with over 2 billion in annual sales linked to the export of organic products - and the domestic market likes it, ranking fifth in the world and third in Europe for national consumption. Italy is a global leader in terms of the number of companies that process organic products (18,000 companies, 3,000 more than France and Germany) and is at the European top for the number of organic farms (75,000). Data that are associated with the growing sensitivity towards environmental issues among consumers, so much so that in 2019 spending on organic products could abundantly exceed 4% of overall food expenditure. The attention to sustainability finds strong growth also in the cosmetic sector - oriented towards ecological products both in formulations and packaging - as well as in other spheres of everyday life - from work to leisure, from clothing to accessories, from tourism to mobility - where consumer choices are made, from year to year, more responsible. SANA is organized by BolognaFiere, in collaboration with AssoBio and FederBio, with the patronage of the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea and the Ministry of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies and with the support of ITA, Italian Trade agency and the contribution of Cosmetica Italia.
5 AND 6 SEPTEMBER: IN BOLOGNA THE GENERAL ORGANIC STATES
The 2019 edition of SANA sees its centrality for the organic world increase from the performance in Bologna on 5 and 6 September of the initiative FROM THE GREEN REVOLUTION TO THE BIO REVOLUTION: two days of "States General of Bio", with very high level comparisons called to outline the strategic choices for the future of agriculture and of fundamental areas such as sustainability, respect for the environment and the correct use of resources. The event, promoted by BolognaFiere in collaboration with FederBio and AssoBio, and with the support of ITA, Italian trade agency, which intend to stimulate a reflection on the role of organic farming for Italian agriculture and on its correlation with essential factors in perspective such as : biodiversity, water protection and climate change. On the first daywill be tackled with a multiapproach-, the topics of fundamental interest for the future of organic farmingdisciplinary, while the second day will see the presentation of the Bio 2030 Manifesto, as well as a round table - which coincides with the Conference opening of SANA - involving the main institutions and the most important national and international players in the supply chain. The development of the "States General of Bio" in parallel with SANA represents a moment of maximum visibility for the organic sector, reaffirming the event as an accredited headquarters in which, every year, the competent associations and institutions, experts, operators and companies of the sector they meet to discuss the most important areas for environmental protection and its preservation. SANA, in fact, is much more than a trade fair event: it is the platform for cultural confrontation on organic and sustainability, the destination for the sector's business, the place to meet operators from all over the world. Business oriented event that takes advantage of the experience of BolognaFiere, the second national exhibition operator, among the first in Europe with a strong know-how in organizing b2b international leader events in their respective sectors.
SANA 2019: THREE MACRO SECTORS, 1,000 EXHIBITORS AND 60,000 SQM EXPOSURE SURFACE
More than 1,000 companies present at SANA for a total of 60,000 square meters of exhibition distributed over 6 pavilions (21, 25, 26, 28, 29 and 30), growing compared to what was originally expected due to the excellent performance of the adhesions to the event. There are three sectors in which the exhibition offer is developed:
• FOOD, with the participation of the main companies in the Italian and international organic food sector (pav. 28, 29 and 30);
• CARE & BEAUTY, the space dedicated to the producers of organic and natural cosmetics, body care products, food supplements, natural products / services for personal care (halls 25 and 26);
• GREEN LIFESTYLE, with eco-compatible technologies, products and solutions, for a healthy and responsible lifestyle (hall 21).
CONFERENCES, WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS: IN SANA THE COMPARISON OF BIO
The SANA proposal is completed with a rich program of conferences, workshops and seminars, starting with the opening Conference (6 September, 11 am -- Sala Maggiore / Ex Gam of Bologna). The appointment, which represents the passing of a symbolic witness between SANA and the "States General of Bio", will take part - after the institutional greetings of Phil Hogan (European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development) and Gianpiero Calzolari (President BolognaFiere) - Simona Caselli (Councilor for Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing, Emilia-Romagna Region), Giorgio Mercuri (President of the Agribusiness Cooperative Alliance), Dino Scanavino (National President of CIA Italian Farmers), Ettore Prandini (President of Coldiretti), Roberto Zanoni (President AssoBio) and Maria Grazia Mammuccini (President FederBio), Paolo De Castro (Agriculture and Rural Development Commission, European Parliament) and Carlo Ferro (ICE President). The moderation of the meeting is entrusted to Luigi Gia (Editor-in-chief La Repubblica / Affari & Finanza). On Friday 6 September, at 3 pm, the presentation of the SANA Observatory (organized by Nomisma) is also scheduled, this year dedicated to "The competitive positioning of Bio Made in Italy on foreign markets", with an in-depth look at the Russian markets and Japanese, thanks to the participation of Giuseppe Russo, director of the ITA office in Moscow, and of Antonella Marucci, deputy director of the ITA office in Tokyo. Added to this is the presentation of the key numbers of the organic sector in Italy and the results of the survey on the Italian consumer, which as every year proposes a mapping of the new consumption trends on the domestic market. There are 3 themes at the SANA Academy 2019 conferences, the "cultural container" of the event that every year offers opportunities for further study of the most stringent current affairs for the sector and which in the last edition recorded + 27% of participants. On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September, intolerances and food allergies are compared, dedicating a specific focus to celiac disease, now classified as an autoimmune disease. The subject of the second meeting are food supplements that contain botanicals and their interactions with food and drugs. The third and final investigation focuses on the research on the possible uses of the by-products of the agrochain-food. SANA INTERNATIONALITY The international vocation of the event is becoming increasingly evident, which scores + 33% of exhibitors arriving from abroad compared to 2018. Among the prominent presences, the collective of 20 Japanese companies participating in SANA following coordination by JETRO -- Japan External Trade Organization. This trend is accompanied by the important incoming action of commercial delegations arriving from 30 European and extra-European countries; in 2018 there were more than 2,000 scheduled meetings between exhibiting companies and international buyers.
SANA 2019 "PLASTIC FREE"
Zero plastic in the bars and catering areas of SANA, which in this way proves to be an event even more consistent with the themes - such as sustainability and respect for the environment - that are the common thread at the event , both in terms of educational content and at the level of the exhibition proposal. Thanks to the collaboration and commitment of Camst, disposable plastic is replaced by glass and compostable materials, while mineral water is supplied in freemode-beverageby dedicated distributors. The food and wine offer is presented with a bio variation, with snacks, sandwiches, brioche, pizzas, salads, fruit and drinks, wines included, strictly organic and in compostable containers. It is estimated that plastic savings can reach 10 tons in 4 days of the event. Sustainability at the fair also extends to the structures of the Exhibition Center, which meet high standards of energy saving: the new halls 28, 29 and 30 are a demonstration of BolognaFiere's attention to the environment and feasible best practices.
HEALTHY NEWS: INNOVATION IS ORGANIC
The exhibition on the latest industry trends is held at SANA, with 950 exhibits on display divided into a percentage of 44% for the Food sector, 48% for Care & Beauty and 8% for the Green Lifestyle. A large space, set up at the BolognaFiere Service Center, where professionals and the public can discover the best that organic and natural production has to offer to the sector: a concentration of innovation that fully gives the measure of the richness and variety of products and services that exhibiting companies know how to produce and propose. An initiative that has no equal in Italy, in which creativity, research and design are put at the service of sustainability.
SANA STORE: DISCOVERING THE LATEST TRENDS
The number of products is growing and the exhibition area is growing for SANA Store, the space for presenting and selling organic and healthy foods, natural beauty and personal care products, the latest news on food supplements and natural health , ecological clothing and accessories made respecting the environment. Hall 28 hosts the SANA Store's organic food area, while in Hall 21 visitors can try and buy cosmetic and body care products, as well as solutions and services for an eco-sustainable everyday life.
The new edition of the Bio Festival, the initiative promoted by FederBio in partnership with BolognaFiere and Eco-bio Confesercenti and divided into a series of debates, show cooking and in-depth discussions with experts in the field, aimed at promoting the values of organic and the excellence of organic Made in Italy.
